To say that 1012 has a checkered history would be an understatement. With Gurney, Grant, and Payne at the wheel, this seven-liter MK II finished second at Daytona in 1966. Later, it was essentially destroyed in a horrific crash with Peter Revson at the wheel, after which it was rebuilt using a spare chassis. What remained of the wreck was given away by then-owner Don Davis, only to resurface later. The history of this car is exceptionally well documented, with all the details available at GT40-1012.com.
