This Ford GT is unusual in that it was initially constructed as an open roadster. It is the ex-Targa Florio 1965 Works Prototype Ford GT40 Roadster.
Maxted-Page, a specialty and historic car dealer in Britain, is offering this exceptional car for sale. Even among Ford GTs, it is the rarest in existence--and has what must be considered a most unusual history.

GT/111 was the second-from-last of five prototype, open GT40 Roadsters built by Ford Advanced Vehicles Operations at their Slough factory during early 1965. John Wyer then decided to enter a single works GT40 into the famous Sicilian road race, the Targa Florio, and felt that the Roadster would be a more suitable configuration to deal
