With one-fifth of the moving parts found in a conventional V8 engine, the Chrysler Turbine Car engine was at its core, the essence of simplicity, looking a bit like a nuclear reactor under its Ghia-sculpted hood. At the end of the program all but nine of the 55 cars built (including five prototypes) were destroyed but TV talk show host Jay Leno now owns a running example.
