which is actually a series of 36 rooms scattered throughout the community. As was typical of life in the 15th century, several of the individual rooms share a common room. While especially great for families sharing a vacation, this adds a unique element when literal strangers share adjacent rooms. Given the flexibility of our itinerary, we plan to stay in the Sextantio Albergo Diffuso on our second week in Italy.

Sadly, the town's wonderful tower, almost its signature architectural element, was damaged beyond repair in the recent earthquake. There is already talk of completely rebuilding it in the style of the original, although those plans are currently in the preliminary stage.
