Automotive Traveler Magazine: 2011 10 1980 Ferrari Pinin Concept Page 3

from the original (gas tank, radiator, brakes, wiring, et cetera).

A mere three decades after it first saw the light of day, the Pinin took to the streets for the first time. In March 2010, the Ferrari turned its tires under its own power down an old airport runway in Modena. Ferrari's first four-door sedan finally earned its pedigree.

In the intervening generation and a half, key parts of the Pinin design had been adopted by production models. Flush side glass found its way onto Audi's 5000 and, later, nearly every other mainstream model. Taillights that show their hues only when lit became part of Pininfarina's Cadillac Allante roadster in the late 1980s. And various angles of the Pinin hint at later models from Alfa Romeo (164) and Peugeot (405).

It's always the original that garners the most attention though--and once again, RM Auctions is moving this unique Ferrari across the block. This time, however, the Ferrari Pinin will drive across the auction block in London on 26 October 2011 under its own power!

The auction house anticipates the Pinin will bring Ferrari-like money, somewhere in the €1,000,000 range. Bring your checkbook and you could be only the second owner of a road-ready Ferrari Pinin. You definitely won't run into another one in your local Ferrari owners gathering... but you will be able to bring three friends along!
