ask for directions to the local grocery store. If you're not towing a car, it's much easier to stock up on the way into camp than to head out for supplies the next morning. (Which brings up a related point: If you own bikes, bring them along! And when you're settled somewhere with plenty to explore, renting a car can be a good idea. We never had a problem getting picked up at a campground by the rental agency.)
