In the Roaring Twenties, Chevrolet continually expanded its truck offerings. The company's advertising emphasized the low operating costs of its most popular one-ton models and claimed to be the world's largest builder of gear-shift cars. With numerous models available for less than $550 (about $6,500 today), Chevy established a leadership position in the domestic marketplace while assembling trucks around the world.

These long-lasting trucks would serve America's Main Street businesses for decades to come. Chevy's valve-in-head six-cylinder engine (right) remained a big selling point compared to its competitors.
