On Sunday 10 June, 200 works of art rumble into Lacey Park in San Marino, California for the second-annual San Marino Motor Classic. The theme was "Design in Motion," personified by the best-in-show winner, a 1939 Delage D8-120 Cabriolet owned by Tony Vincent. Congratulations to Tony, shown on the previous page with his family (See Page 14 for a photo of the Delage on its own.)
Other significant winners included Vin Di Bona's 1956 Continental Mark II coupe (shown here and on Page 19), winner of the most-elegant-closed-car award in a field that included many strong pre- and post-war competitors. Other notable winners included Nelson Jones' 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster (Page 24), displayed with its removable hardtop, and a 1930 Bugatti Type 46 owned by Peter and Merle Mullin that took home the coveted Mayor's Trophy (Page 3).
The micro-car field displayed several exquisite specimens: a tiny red 1958 Autobianchi Special (Page 21) complete with red retro picnic set made for a time-traveler's delight, and an Abarth 750 convertible (Page 22) of the same model year wowed its viewers--including our editorial director. Both
