Automotive Traveler's Use of JavaScript

Javascript is a client-side (running on your PC) programming language used to make web sites more interactive and useful. Automotive Traveler uses Javascript to validate data entry in forms, to notify you of possible problems with the data you enter, and to make data entry easier by automatically completing some fields in forms. It is essential that you enable Javascript in your browser before using Automotive Traveler! See the instructions below for the method of enabling Javascript with common web browsers. If your browser is not listed, use the Help files included with your browser and search for "javascript" to locate instructions particular to the browser you are using.

Enabling JavaScript in Browsers

Follow the directions to enable JavaScript in your browser.

Firefox 1.5.x

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Select Options from the Tools menu.
  3. In the Options dialog box, select "Web Features" from the list on the left.
  4. Check "Enable Javascript".
  5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
  6. Click the icon on the Firefox toolbar to reload the page.

Firefox 2.x, 3.x

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Select Options from the Tools menu.
  3. In the Options dialog box, select "Content" from the menu at the top.
  4. Check "Enable Javascript".
  5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
  6. Click the icon on the Firefox toolbar to reload the page.

Internet Explorer 6.x

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  3. In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
  4. Click Custom level button at bottom. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
  5. Under Scripting category enable/disable Active Scripting, Allow paste options via script and Scripting of Java applets.
  6. Click OK twice to close out.
  7. Hit Refresh.

Internet Explorer 7.x

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click "Tools" on the right-hand side of the toolbar.
  3. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  4. In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
  5. Click Custom level button at bottom. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
  6. Under "Scripting Category" enable "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets".
  7. Click OK twice to save your changes.
  8. Reload the page.

Netscape 7.x

  1. Open Netscape.
  2. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  3. Click the arrow next to Advanced.
  4. Click Scripts & Plugins.
  5. Check/uncheck Navigator beneath "Enable Javascript for".
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Reload.

Opera 7.x

  1. Open Opera.
  2. Select Quick Preferences from the File menu.
  3. Check/uncheck Enable Javascript.
  4. Click Reload.
